Mommy Time
Last year's boom of white watches leaves me wondering what the next trend will be. I vote for unexpected metallics. Going beyond the traditional gold and silver yields an unexpected yet ultra-wearable piece of arm candy.
Origins Plantscription
I purchased this serum (my first serum btw) about 2 weeks ago. I admit, I was a serum sceptic. I mean; cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize and oh, wait add one more step to your already tedious skincare routine?!?
..but, I've been swayed. In two weeks this has all but erased my smile lines and the little ones around my eyes. Amazing!
From the Origins site:
"Although it's not a prescription, in just 4 weeks nature's next generation power plant noticeably reduces wrinkle length & depth. Without the irritation. Visibly helps repair the vertical fret lines between your eyes, the stubborn furrows across your forehead and the deepening frownies that frame your mouth. Youthful "bounce" is revived. Skin is clinically firmer, smoother and more lifted-looking. And with continued use, results improve. What will nature think of next!"

Oh Happy Day Indeed!
These pics of homemade party streamers via Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day just made my day. So simple, yet so beautiful. I think I need some to pep up my place.

Free People Desert Boot
I've been him-hawing around about desert boots for a few months now. Do I want desert boots? Would I prefer classic Clarks Wallabees instead? What do I wear them with? So many considerations!
I spotted these on sale at free people today and I think I need them. Any time the stars align and comfy shoes are also fashionable I just need to consider it a sign and get on board!
P.S. - I promise not to wear them with slouchy socks as pictured. Too schoolgirl for me.

Store Stalker - Mod Cloth Maternity
Indie-licious online retailer Mod Cloth is the perfect place to beef up your soon to be Spring wardrobe. Their sartorial sweetness and irreverant love of animal accessories can add up to over the top cute, but if you sort through with a sharp eye, a grown up look with a hint of whimsey can be acheived.
My store stalking ended in a nautical inspired number with a hint of floral. Add your favorite dark maternity jeans to complete the look.

Transitional Inspiration
The weather warmed up from below freezing last week to nearly 80 today! Hurray! I'm digging out my sandals and lightweight dresses. This yummy, comfy, casual cool dress from MinkPink is on my short list this spring. It looks so effortless and will be smashing with my clogs!

Rachel Zoe and Posh Maternity
Expectant moms Rachel Zoe and Victoria Beckham are being criticized for wearing sky-high heels. What do you think about mommies in platforms?

With yet another icy day gripping Dallas, we'll be making these sunny hearts to add some cheer to the windows.
Thanks, Martha!
Indie Genius
This is where I plan to be come tomorrow evening. Julie McCullough Kim's latest endeavor has been on my to-do list for several months and I can't wait to check it out! It is worth a visit just to peek at her fantastic fabric selection!

Health & Beauty
Looking back through all of my "Health and Beauty" posts, I realized that most of them are related to nail polish. I admit, nail color is a small obsession to me. So I can spot an OPI shade from 4 years ago on a stranger and comment on it, why do they seem so weirded out by that?
My belated New Year's resolution is to do my best to get jazzed up about other beauty products and begin posting about them.

This should get nails off my mind for at least a few days!

Trend Alert - Flare Leg
I've always had a soft spot for super wide legs. I can trace my affinity back to the moment in 1987 when I saw a pool-side mariachi singer wearing bell bottoms with tiers of ruffles cascading down them. (A man who can pull off such ruffles is indeed a rare and special bird).
In addition to your super skinny jeans and leggings, add this silhouette to your closet this spring and you will be classically equipped for years to come.

Store Stalker - Nasty Gal Maternity
This week's challenge is inspired by my husband. He recently peeked at my screen as I was checking my email and spotted a missive titled "NASTY GAL" in big, bold font. His comments were to the effect of "what the heck are you looking at?" I responded that it was a store (which didn't help) and then had to explain that it is an edgy clothing store for girls younger than myself.
The email was sent via Refinery29, I think that generally the only moms shopping from this site are featured in a certain MTV reality series.
I figured why not challenge myself to find a tasteful, age appropriate maternity ensemble from a store called NASTY GAL...
Here goes -
It turned out to be a study in neutrals with some ballet accents tossed in for good measure.

Simple Lovely
If you are not familiar with Simple Lovely's Joslyn, then you need to high tail it to her blog ASAP! This Dallas gal has style in spades and I have no idea how she has the time to do everything she does (parenting, crafts, pretty pics) much less blog about it!
Pottery
Beautiful pottery has always been an object of my desire. I tried my hand at the wheel in Taos last year with pretty dismal results - see sad vessels in foreground below (the guy with dreads was the instructor).
Etsy's One Clay Bead, however makes dreamy creations such as the lace bowl pictured below.
I am always inspired by gorgeous pottery; it whispers possibilities and begs to be filled with beauty.
Sorel Joan of the Arctic Boot
These toasty little numbers have been on my style radar since early fall. Aside from the witty name, they are actually a very practical purchase. With temperatures hovering around 25 degrees in Dallas today (and not much warmer in my office) these would have been the perfect wintery companion! I must put them on my to do list!

J.Crew, who knew?
I've never been a J.Crew admirer. I've walked in the store with friends only to be overwhelmed by pants with turtles embroidered on them (for adults? really?!?). But I must say that with the arrival of creative director, Jenna Lyons, I am kinda digging their new aesthetic.
Kudos to the stylists for their 2011 lookbook. The blue monochromatic chica with shorts and a sweathirt is my favorite! I also love the sequin maxi skirt with chambray shirt and leather belt.
Preppy is palatable with a little tounge-in-cheek irony.
