Breastfeeding photos

Breastfeeding - nearly taboo 30 years ago and today all the rage!  After seeing several totally adorable photos of nursing mothers lately, I want to capture the moment with my little one.  Will it embarrass him when he's a big boy?  Most likely, but what a lovely and fleeting moment to capture on film.  

Miranda Kerr's nursing photos are being called sexy, I think they are a sweet depiction of a working mother (who happens to be a supermodel) making time for her little one between takes.

I've enjoyed Joanna Goddard's exploration of the subject of breastfeeding in private and public.

The Mom book

I read this story in Real Simple and I must admit, it made me cry a little.  Author Jacquelyn Mitchard details her family's tradition of writing a letter or drawing in a book for her each holiday...

"Everyone in my family calls it “the Mom Book,” though technically there are now three of them—each a thick 8½-by-11-inch book of handmade paper, 100 or so pages bound with a plain cover. In every volume, my kids have drawn pictures, written poems, pasted photos, and penned letters. Sometimes their lives and hearts are so full they consume two or three pages. Each entry is dated and signed, even if just with the mark of a thumb in tempera paint.

Occasion by occasion, year by year, the pages have filled with words and pictures, capturing the state of my relationship with each of my kids at a given moment in time. I’ll admit—it’s not always pretty."

So, I guess this Mothers Day all I want is a book for my little ones to fill with funny, sweet and sometimes not-so-sweet sentiments for me.  What a treasure.

Being a mother is rewarding every single day.  This image, sent from my Mother In Law who provides our childcare, really drives it home for me.  When I walk in the door from work each day my mood is instantly elevated by the people waiting for me there.  Thank you, family.

P.S. I'm pumping

If you receive a poorly typed email from me...

If you knock on my office door and hear a muffled "nnnsh  nnnsh" noise...

If you see me washing bottles in the breakroom sink...

...it's because I am a working mom and I'm probably pumping and typing one handed.  Yes, it can be tricky but it is rewarding every. single. day.

Pretty Printed Products

Today I stumbled across the Erin Condren website via One Kings Lane.  What a delicious array of candy colored printed paper products!  Every modern mom needs an arsenal of awesome stationary at her disposal; whether to jot down a last minute birthday greeting or send a timely thank you note.  I find that if I have cool paper products these "chores" are much more fun!

Routan

My husband has been plying me to get a minivan since we heard the news about baby #2.  I have been extremely resistant to say the least.  Until I met the VW Routan.  As far as minivan panache goes, it pretty much tops the pile. 

I must admit, it is super easy getting the little one into her seat without bending and bumping my head on the door frame.  I'm also a sucker for the remote sliding doors and remote start.  It is sheer decadence to step into an already cool car on a 105 degree day!
