OPI Ya'll

As a Texan, I am stoked about OPI's latest collection featuring Lone Star inspired names.  But as a resident of Big D (Texas' fashion capital) I am a little surprised not to see a Dallas themed polish.  Tsk, tsk, OPI!

...although the Fort Worth It is kinda calling my name...and the San Tan Tonio is an amazing nude...okay forget it, I don't need a Dallas polish, I'm sold!

Favorite way to blow an hour (and a couple hundred $$$) online?  Shopbop!
They've added a maternity selection, but I am proceeding with my picks from the non-maternity offerings.

This little ensemble is the perfect comfy transitional look for the impending spring.

Mom in Chief

Regardless of your feelings about our nation's President, you pretty much have to give props to Michelle Obama for being a role model as a mother, philanthropist and modern fashion icon.  This week she came under fire for her bold choice of a red Alexander McQueen gown for a State Dinner honoring China's President Hu Jintao.

First Lady Michelle Obama chose a bold, Alexander McQueen dress to wear to Wednesday night's state dinner.

The CFDA and some American designers are critisizing her for choosing a British designer for such a high profile event.  Michelle has worn her fair share of American designers during her reign as first lady, almost to the point of excluding European designers.

As a woman who has had wardrobe moments when nothing looks good, I say Michelle should wear whatever makes her feel confident.  Maybe her Oscar and Carolina just weren't working out that day.  Maybe that Vera Wang was making her bum look like a balloon.  Who knows what tiny tortures a woman endures when getting dressed for a high profile event!  The bottom line is: when all eyes are on you, you have to feel confident in what your are wearing.  Michelle owned that McQueen and made us all proud of our fashionable first lady.

It's about time!

hm-online-shopping.jpg

Here's to the end of an extremely annoying era. The unavailability of H&M online really cramped our style, but this morning, H&M tweeted that they've "decided to have online shopping in the US at the turn of the year 2011/2012!" The mass retailer brand's really stepped up in the recent months, churning out mega-hot collaborations like Lanvin and Hasbeens, paying attention to its plus-size community, and creating sustainable clothing that's affordable and cute—we're super excited that we'll all be able to have a bit of that H&M pie from the comfort of our own computer screens.

WWW Style Circle

I just got accepted into Who What Wear's Style Circle!  Not exactly sure what to expect but they mentioned free swag, event invites and contributing to WWW content.  Color me flattered.

Who What Wear

I am a serious follower of Who What Wear's daily fashion newsletter.  Their guerilla style reports brighten my inbox daily with news direct from fashion's front lines.  Whether we're learning what celebs wear to the airport or what oversees fashion bloggers find to be au currant, it is always something juicy and fun!

I feel a little silly that I just discovered their blog today; but I am so glad I did! What a feast for the eyes - huge images featuring the best editorials from glossies like Elle and Marie Claire.  The pic below of French actress Clemence Poesy just gave me more encouragement in my quest to grow out my hair.  I really needed it, I was one bad hair day away from chopping it!

Proenza Spring 2011 Handbags

I think I just drooled on my screen a little bit.  The second bag is like a pat of butter, I want it.

Store Stalker - Anthropologie Maternity

I am a believer in buying as many non-maternity items as possible.  I think it stems from both my thrifty nature and dislike of elastic waistbands.  While pregnant, I challenged myself never to shop for maternity wear, this made me adept at scouring stores for things that would accomodate my gigantic bump.  To share my quest with my readers, I am introducing a new weekly posting - The Store Stalker - in which we find maternity pieces masquerading as regular clothes and style them head to toe for a Mom-tastic look!
This week's store - Anthropologie.

"She's not home yet"

Being a mother is rewarding every single day.  This image, sent from my Mother In Law who provides our childcare, really drives it home for me.  When I walk in the door from work each day my mood is instantly elevated by the people waiting for me there.  Thank you, family.

Natalie Portman - 2011 Golden Globes

What a sweet ensemble for an expectant mom!  Pretty and sweet was the perfect choice considering her dark role in Black Swan.  I also love Viktor & Rolf's theatrical, and sometimes over-the-top perspective. Natalie took a chance and turned out a winner on the red carpet and on stage!

Comfort Shoes - Cool?

Urban Outfitters has the audacity and ability to take the most nerdy, old, comfortable things and turn them into hipster must-haves.  Their latest conquest is the comfort shoe.  I must say I've been drooling over Kork Ease since last summer, but now that they are in the UO catalog I must have another pair!

When I was in grade school I found a pair similar to these in a thrift store and sported them all summer (when I wasn't barefootin').

vintage red leather knot wedge granny sandals. 8.
Dorky yes, but I could run  in these suckers too!

Much to my surprise, UO is also featuring the Bass Margie sandal in it's Spring catalog.

Needles to say, they are in my shopping cart as I type.

P.S. I'm pumping

If you receive a poorly typed email from me...

If you knock on my office door and hear a muffled "nnnsh  nnnsh" noise...

If you see me washing bottles in the breakroom sink...

...it's because I am a working mom and I'm probably pumping and typing one handed.  Yes, it can be tricky but it is rewarding every. single. day.

(even when I spill milk in my handbag  %&*#$@#!)

Calypso for Target!

I am a huge fan of Target's designer collaborations...
...case in point - Cynthia Vincent wedges (my favorite shoes!)

The new Calypso line due out May 1st promises to be chock-full of breezy, print-tastic summer essentials.
The key to snagging these highly sought after items is to shop on the day they are released in stores!  I bought my Cyn Vin wedges at midnight on Target.com the day they were released.  The next day, they were sold out online and all posted on Ebay at double the original retail price!
